This widely stretched and flat area of white sand is a result of the ancient remains of Lake Bonneville that covered this large basin. Bonneville Salt Flats hosts a racing season during Speed Week which is an annual event here in August.
Other notable events are the World of Speed and the SCTA world finals that occur in September and October respectively. So if you a fan of motorsports, this is the place you have to see.
Arts and festivals
Tooele County hosts a variety of festivals every year. Events such as local weekly farmer's markets occur regularly and are fun activities if you enjoy locally produced food and engaging with locals.

The most popular events that occur in the Tooele area are the old West Fest, the Miller motorsports, the Tooele arts festival, Salt Flats racing, and Pony express.
Many more events occur at different times of the year that are a continuous source of enjoyment for the people living in Tooele County, as well as those who are visiting.
Pony express national historic trail
In 1860 and 1861, the trail was originally used to deliver mail between Missouri and California within ten days.
For almost 18 months the mail service was delivered by young riders who used to travel 1840 miles. Their journey was over mountains and across deserts and was completed by riding horses.
Now there are many opportunities for horse riding and the trail also makes up for great bike rides on the paved and maintained road.

The Great Salt Lake
If you ever get a chance to visit Tooele County, visiting the Great Salt Lake should be on your bucket list.
The 75 miles long and 28 miles wide lake is a heaven for the sailors because it has dense salty water and the waves are also very gentle.
Summer is a perfect season if you want to sail and boat because the water at this time is clear and warm.
Miller motorsports museum
This museum is located at the Miller Motorsports Park and if you are an auto racing enthusiast, then this place is for you.
Three are several different racing cars over there. The showroom in the museum exhibits more than 20 vintage racing cars and also has a series of brand-new Ford Mustangs.
The visit to the museum is free and needs no ticket but donations are accepted over here, so it's your choice if you want to donate and support the museum.
