A Charlie Brown Celebration Will Be Held in Augusta, Maine Today

It feels like Christmas with today's chilly temperatures, and you can get into the holiday spirit and kick off the holiday season today in Augusta. The city is hosting a Cheerful Charlie Brown Celebration, which is free to the public and will be going on from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. with activities for all ages. Santa will be making an appearance for the kids on a tour of Augusta from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The schedule of activities includes A Charlie Brown Christmas storywalk will be held all day on Water Street, Christmas at the Old Fort Western will be from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., horse-drawn wagon rides on Water Street from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., festive street entertainment from 2:30 to 4:45 p.m.; and Santa will be at Santa's cottage in Market Square from 3:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The town tree will be lit at 5:05 p.m., and fireworks will end the evening at 5:15 p.m.

The Augusta Police Department will escort Santa on his tour of Augusta. Santa will not be able to stop and greet children or go down every street, so if you are not on Santa's route, you are asked to please park and remain in your vehicles at a central location, such as the park or school parking lot, to try and spot Santa. Santa's route will start at 12:30 p.m. from Buker Community Center and will go from there to the following streets in the order listed, ending at William Park at 2:00 p.m.:
