With the final weekend of March upon us, there are plenty of activities to choose from this weekend. It is Maine Maple Weekend, so you can take a tour of a local sugarhouse and see how your maple syrup is produced. I am also working on a separate article about Maine Maple Weekend, which should be coming out shortly. This weekend is also the Maine Science Festival in Bangor, so there are lots of kid-friendly events this weekend. Enjoy the weekend.
Saturday 3/25
Bangor: Doolally will perform Celtic music and a variety of Celtic dances at the Bangor Public Library, 145 Harlow Street, from 1 to 2 p.m. This event is free and will be in the library atrium.
Bangor: The 2023 Maine Science Festival will have hands-on events for all ages from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cross Insurance Center Ballroom, 515 Main Street. Roll up your sleeves and learn through various hands-on activities from scientists and practitioners around the state. Make sure to stop in and visit each activity and discover that science is everywhere!
Bangor: Robinson Ballet will perform "MOSAIC: An Evening of Dance" this weekend at the Gracie Theatre at Husson 1 College Circle. The show is at 7 p.m., with ticket prices at $20 for adults and $15 for students and adults 65 and older.
Hampden: Spaghetti for a Cause 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Hampden Highlands UMC, 44 Kennebec Road. Come out and support the Raya Mission with a spaghetti dinner fundraiser. The suggested donation for the dinner is $10, which will go toward providing no-cost home restoration projects for community families in need.
Lewiston: The Twin Cities Gun Show will be held this weekend at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave Saturday's hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $8.00, with children ages 12 and younger admitted for free. All federal and local firearm laws and ordinances must be obeyed.
Maine Maple Weekend is being held at sugarhouses across the state. Many of the sugarhouses are offering activities and free samples in addition to tours.
Phippsburg: All hands on deck from 1 to 4 p.m.; a potluck to benefit the Maine Lobstermen Association will be held at the Phippsburg Sportsmen Association, 272 Main Street. This is a community gathering to support our lobstering families. There will be potluck food, raffles, and conversations with local lobstering families. All donations go to the Maine Lobstermen's Association to support our lobster industry.
Unity: Celebrate Maine Maple Weekend at Stone Tree Farm and Cidery on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. To celebrate Maine Maple Weekend, Stone Tree is releasing a new wine! The new wine, "Unity," is a blueberry wine infused with robust maple syrup produced by local Overlock Farms in Freedom. There will also be blueberry maple wine slushies and maple hard cider. The picnic grounds will be open, with fire pits and picnic tables available.

Augusta: The Augusta Symphony Orchestra will hold a spring concert at South Paris Congregational Church, 9 Church Street, from 3 to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Donations will be gratefully accepted.

Skowhegan: Bigelow Brewing, 473 Bigelow Hill Road, will have some events to celebrate Maine Maple Weekend from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Come and enjoy Rowe Road Maple Porter and maple inspired pulled pork pizza. There will also be freshly popped popcorn with maple butter and sea salt and you can roast marshmallows for s'mores while listening to some Chicago blues by Matt and the Barnburners.
