Happy Friday, everyone! This weekend, there are plenty of things to do around Maine, and there are some fun things going on that you might want to take the kids to. There are a couple of fishing derbies, a Winterfest, a craft fair, and more. If you are having an event or know of an upcoming event, you can email me the details and I will make sure to mention it. Saturday 1/28
Bangor: There will be a craft fair held at the Bangor Elks, 108 Odlin Road, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bangor: Comedy night out at Bangor Beer Co., 330 Bangor Mall Boulevard. The show is from 9 to 10:30 p.m., and tickets are $10.
Belfast: A rabies clinic will be held at the Waldo County Pet Food Pantry (VFW building) at 34 Field Street. This is for cats and dogs, and it's $10 per vaccine. You must show proof of previous vaccination to get the three-year vaccine.
Camden: The 20th annual Winterfest will be held at the Camden Amphitheatre, 55 Main Street, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be ice carving, the Sun Dog Polar Plunge, a doggie fashion show, music, food, kid's activities, and more. The ice carving teams will start at 11 a.m., the doggie fashion show at 12 p.m., and the polar plunge at 1 p.m.
Greenville: The 16th annual Moosehead Lake Togue Derby is Friday 1/27, Saturday 1/28, and Sunday 1/29.
Milo: Milo is having a big birthday party at the town hall from 2 to 11 p.m. to celebrate its bicentennial. There will be kid's activities from 2-4 p.m. From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. there will be music by The Wildwood Band. Family events will be in the auditorium and refreshments will be served.
Monmouth: A benefit spaghetti dinner and silent auction will be held at Monmouth Memorial School Cafeteria, 130 Academy Road, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu is spaghetti and meatballs, caesar salad, Italian bread, and dessert. $10 per person, and for kids ages 12 and under $5. All proceeds will go to Monmouth Fire Department member Jessica Gray, who was recently injured in a motor vehicle accident.
Rockport: Families are invited to a free penguin party at 11 a.m. at the Rockport Public Library, 1 Limerock Street. There will be a penguin snack, a penguin craft, and a waddle relay with prizes for the winning teams. The movie March of the Penguins will also be shown. You are encouraged to dress in black and white, with tuxedos being optional.
St. Agatha: The Long Lake Fishing Derby will be Saturday 1/28 and Sunday 1/29. This derby has the largest cash prize in Maine. Registration is for ages 14 and up $20 a day or $30 for the whole weekend, and for ages 13 and under $10 a day or $15 for the weekend. Part of the proceeds will benefit a local cancer charity.
Tenants Harbor: Escape the cabin and feed the fever with a sit-down chili supper and take-out is also available at the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Saint George Lodge 132 at 7 Elementary School Road. 5 p.m. until sold out.
Waldoboro: Saturday morning chess at the Waldoboro Public Library at 9:30 a.m. All ages and levels are welcome. Games will be provided, and players are also welcome to bring their own.
Wilton: The 8th annual Holland Strong Ice Fishing Derby will be held on Wilson Lake from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can register for the derby from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Raffle tickets will be available at the derby shack from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. $10 for 15 chances. It is highly recommended that no cars or trucks are on the ice and a reminder to check the ice conditions wherever you decide to fish.

Bath: Maine Maritime Museum, 243 Washington Street, is offering free admission every weekend through March. Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
