Things to do in Maine July 9th & 10th

As is usually the case in Maine, there are plenty of events and activities going on this weekend. I am giving you some that you might be interested in checking out. Of course, I have to mention that you can also just pack a lunch and go to a local park or lake and enjoy some time outdoors, and the best part is it's free!

Saturday, July 9th

Bangor - The Maine Veterans Project is hosting a corn hole event at Cole Land Transportation Museum from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. inviting veterans and their families to come and play some corn hole on Saturday. Light refreshments will be served.

Belfast - Let your inner pirate out at the Belfast City Harbor Dock from 10:00 a.m. until noon. The Back and Forth and Milady will arrive filled with pirates and you can hear the cannon fire. Come dressed in your best pirate wear and you will receive an eye patch and an optional mustache. You can take part in pirate training and learn how to walk the plank. This is perfect for the little pirates in your family.

Fort Fairfield- The Maine Potato Blossom Festival will be held July 9-17. There will be plenty of events going on during the festival, and keep your eyes peeled because I have a more detailed piece on just this event.

Howland - Craft fair/flea market at Old Tannery Park from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. There will be community-wide yard sales; a corn hole tournament from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; a beer tent; and a concert from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the Tyler Healy Band.

Lisbon Falls- The Maine Moxie Festival, July 8th-10th. More info on Maine Moxie Festival.

Scarborough- Wounded Heroes Ride 2022 motorcycle run at 8:00 a.m. Ride from the Maine Veterans' Home in Scarborough to Bentley's Saloon. Free will donations to benefit the Wounded Heroes Program of Maine.

Southwest Harbor - Flamingo Fiesta featuring a parade at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, craft fair, games, and music. July 9th and 10th on Main Street in Southwest Harbor.

St. Albans- Sweet Dreams Lavender Farm is offering come pick your own lavender Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12 p.m. for $5.00 a bunch. The farm is located at 408 Dexter Road, St. Albans.

Sunday, July 10th

Bangor - Free barbeque and concert hosted by Essex Street Baptist Church. Free, open to the public, and for all ages. Good food and excellent music with Brad White performing. 6:00 p.m. at 84 Essex St, Bangor.

Bridgton- Chickadee Quilters' 41st Annual Quilt Show will feature quilt exhibits, demonstrations, vendors, a yard sale, an auction, and a cafe. This is one of the largest shows in the state of Maine. The show will be held at Stevens Brook Elementary School (off Route 302), 14 Frances Bell Drive, Bridgton, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Fee: $5 for entrance at the door. Free parking and handicap accessible.

Freeport- 8:00 a.m. Free yoga in the park at L.L. Bean Discovery Park on Main Street in Freeport. Bring a mat and blocks and if you don't have your own, there will be extra. All levels are welcome weather permitting.

Freeport- 7:00 p.m. Come enjoy a free outdoor-themed movie, "Walking Home," in the park at L.L. Bean Discovery Park on Main Street in Freeport.

Lisbon- Moxie Festival Bass Fishing Tournament at Papermill Trail/Miller Park in Lisbon, Maine from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Fee: $10.00 cash to enter.
