There is a hidden gem you absolutely must try. Stutzman's farm stand and bakery on Douty Hill road in Sangerville, Maine is a place you must check out. I highly recommend Stutzman's for their delicious brick oven pizza and also for the farm-fresh vegetables and other items that they carry.
Stutzman's current spring hours of operation are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Stutzman's is open Thursday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. There is indoor and outdoor seating available, along with takeout.
They grow many of the farm-fresh vegetables they have available for sale, and they also offer local items for sale. You can buy farm-fresh eggs, locally grown Maine potatoes, locally made jams, and loaves of bread, along with locally made coffee in one-pound bags. The bakery has many yummy baked goods like fruit pies, fruit crisps, cookies, and, of course, the treat Maine is known for, the whoopie pie. The bakery is a perfect spot to grab some goodies to take up to camp with you.
The menu is farm-to-table eating with all locally sourced fresh ingredients. Everything is made from scratch, and Stutzman's also offers a pizza buffet with your choice of pizza slices, a cup of soup, a salad, a drink, and the dessert of the day. The pizza is baked in a wood-fired brick oven, and my stomach is growling right now thinking about those delicious Stutzman's pizzas. There are specialty pizzas like apple and bacon, along with basic cheese pizzas that you can customize to your liking by adding some of the toppings offered. If you would like something other than pizza, you are in luck because Stutzman's also offers fresh-made sandwiches served on their homemade bread and pitas. Another favorite of mine is the fresh-made salads, and yes, they even make their own dressings. You couldn't get a fresher meal unless you walked out into the fields, sat down, and started eating the vegetables.
