Scott Kingery will miss the remainder of the 2021 season after undergoing shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum. Kingery has been trying to work his way back into a Phillies uniform in the minor leagues this year after what can only be described as a broken swing kept him off the roster this season.

Kingery is owed a guaranteed $14 million from the Phillies over the next two seasons. He last played with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on June 26th. On July 1st, he was placed on the 7-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation. Most recently, he was placed on the 60-day injured list as of July 9th.

Jetpax SZN struggled with the Phillies in a small sample size this season, going just 1-for-19 with 12 strikeouts in 15 games. In Lehigh Valley, things weren't much better for Kingery. He hit .181 with a .598 OPS and only had six extra-base hits in 72 at-bats. He struck out 27 times over the same span.

Maybe there's a chance that Kingery's shoulder injury has been bothering him for some time now and it could be attributed to his struggles. I'm a big Scott Kingery fan, but his path back to the majors will not be an easy one. Here's to hoping that Scott Kingery is healthy come 2022 Spring Training and ready to continue his journey back to the major leagues.

For the Phillies, they have an opportunity to go TWO games above .500 today. The Mets will play Pittsburgh yet again today at 1:05 PM. The Pirates are in last place in the NL Central but are now 7-3 in their last 10 games. They have beaten the Mets three games in a row.

Things could be very interesting by this evening but first, the Phillies need to beat the Marlins in extras and then have Zack Wheeler shut them down in a game shortly after.
