GRANADA HILLS, CA — A home invasion in Granada Hills turned fatal early Saturday morning when a homeowner shot and killed one of the intruders. According to Los Angeles Police Officer Angie Moran, the incident occurred around 5 a.m. in the 11400 block of Swinton Avenue.

The homeowner was confronted by three to four men attempting a "hot prowl" break-in. During the incident, one of the suspects brandished a weapon at the homeowner, who responded by firing a gun, fatally wounding the suspect. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the shooting, the remaining suspects fled, leaving a blood trail, which suggests that at least one other intruder was injured in the altercation.

The homeowner's family, including a grandmother and a child, were present during the invasion but were unharmed. Police have detained one individual in connection with the investigation, though details about this person's involvement are still unclear.

This incident adds to the concerns about home invasions in the area, and the investigation is ongoing. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
