Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule was in the Kansas City area on Friday to check out 2024 four-star offensive lineman Andrew Sprague. This was first reported by On3’s Sean Callahan who confirmed the news following Rhule’s tweet.

Sprague is a highly-touted prospect. He is the 13th overall offensive tackle in the 2024 class, and the fifth overall player in the class from the state of Missouri per the247Sports Composite Rankings. He has a numerical ranking of 90 overall.

Sprague’s offer sheet is lengthy, and he has 22 offers in total. Baylor, Boston College, Colorado, LSU, Michigan, Purdue, and Wisconsin are just some of the teams that have offered him in addition to Nebraska. He has some familiarity with the program, as he was offered by the program on April 20, 2022. He also took a quick visit to campus on May 15, under head coach Scott Frost.

The offensive tackle has tremendous size and ability. He measures in at six-foot-eight, 260 pounds. He is very sturdy in his blocks, and this is particularly evident in pass protection. Pass protection is something Nebraska football struggled with last season. Sprague’s technique is sound, as he squares his feet on blocks. The combination of his size and technique would be able to help Nebraska football immensely.

Currently, the 2024 Nebraska football recruiting class has no commitments. However, the current coaching staff has been hard at work on the road. Missouri was an area they stopped by this week, as they look to make their rounds across the Midwest.

Developing an offensive line is an area that Matt Rhule and his coaching staff pride themselves on. Getting a guy like Sprague would be able to help them sure up the positional area. There are many programs who want Sprague’s services, and Nebraska football will have to battle for them.
