Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule was in St. Louis, Missouri on Thursday afternoon ,trying to find more recruits for the 2024 class. Rivals.com’s Greg Smith reported that Rhule was likely going to visit 2024 five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo.

Wingo is the third overall wide receiver in the 2024 class, and the top player in his class from the state of Missouri per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He currently has 38 offers on the table, including from the likes of Miami, Notre Dame, Oregon, Tennessee, Colorado, TCU, and Texas.

Wingo measures in at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds. He is a fast receiver that can play on the outside. As soon as he gets out of his break, he uses that speed to go past his defender and attempt a catch. This makes him a deep-ball target, and allows him to open up an offense. Dynamic would be a good word to describe him, as he brings that sort of playmaking ability.

Wingo would fit well in today’s wide-open game of college football. He would also fit well with what the Nebraska football program is trying to get in terms of identity at wide receiver. The program wants tall, fast receivers that can stretch the field and make things happen after the catch. The program’s recruitment of Wingo falls in line with what they are looking for.

Currently, the 2024 Nebraska football recruiting class has zero commitments in it. There is an influx of talent within the state, and the Huskers have been trying to plant seeds for the class along the way.

As for now, they are looking outside the state for playmakers, and Wingo certainly fits the bill. Nebraska football will undoubtedly have competition for him. However, fans should be confident that Rhule and the coaching staff will make a strong push.
