The White House reportedly urges the press to quash coverage of GOP charges on President Biden, according to this report.
According to a memo directed at the editorial leadership of America’s news organizations, a spokesman for the White House counsel’s office, Ian Sams, says “It’s time for the media to do more to scrutinize House Republicans’ demonstrably false claims that they’re basing impeachment stunt on.”
The memo also suggests that the outlets should avoid reporting on the process of impeachment and instead focus on the substance of the allegations against President Biden. The White House’s efforts to direct coverage of the upcoming impeachment comes just days after an appeals court chastised the Biden administration for attempting to suppress speech on social media platforms.
The same White House that was slapped down recently by a federal appeals court for meddling in the content moderation policies of social media networks sent a letter Wednesday to the heads of most major American press outlets demanding that they subject Republican charges of corruption within the Biden family with the “appropriate scrutiny” during their coverage of the upcoming impeachment hearings in Congress.
The memo is also accompanied by a 14-page dossier aimed at debunking the claims against President Biden leveled by Republicans in Congress.
It is important to note that this is not the first time that the White House has reportedly attempted to influence media coverage. In 2013, President Obama’s administration was accused of trying to control news coverage by limiting access to reporters and photographers.
Similarly, President Trump’s administration was also accused of trying to control news media coverage by labeling unfavorable news as “fake news” and attacking journalists on social media.
Well, who's really telling the truth, and who's to blame in all these freedom of speech and politically-related issues? I guess we all just have to wait and see.
Kindly share this news with your family and friends who are into politics. Cheers!
