There are a few events happening in Chicago on May 29th for Memorial Day 2023. You can check out here the Memorial Day Weekend Cruise happening at Dusable Harbor at 1:30 pm.

There is also the Memorial Day Parade and Service at Rosehill Cemetery which is being held in conjunction with Tattler Post #973, Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, Chicago Light Artillery, and Daughters of the American Revolution. You can read about it here.

Tattler Post #973 is an American Legion Post founded in 1946 to service and support the veterans of the Chicagoland area. The post is located at 4355 N Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60618.

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) is a fraternal organization dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of veteran heroes who fought and worked to save the Union in the American Civil War.

The SUVCW organization was organized nationally in 1881 and chartered by Congress in 1954. SUVCW is the legal heir and successor to the Grand Army of the Republic.

The Chicago Light Artillery was a volunteer artillery battery that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The unit was organized in Chicago, Illinois in 1862 and mustered out on June 23, 1865.

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a lineage-based membership service organization for women who are directly descended from a person involved in the United States' struggle for independence. A non-profit group, they promote education and patriotism.

Some local dignitaries and/or elected officials are expected to be present at these public events.

I hope these Memorial Day events help you relive the memories of these heroes and patriots. Happy Memorial Day 2023, everyone!
