Dinner Time Conversation with Kids

The Activity Mom

The experts say dinner time with your family is so important and I totally understand that. The conversation, laughs, and time to connect with each other is priceless.

Sometimes we have so much to say and are talking over each other and other times it is quieter and we struggle to find things to talk about. I've found that conversation starters are a nice change of pace and fun for the whole family.

I love the questions, "What is something that made you smile today?" and "Who are your closest friends?". Those questions have led to other questions and conversation for us.

It is a fun game when we cut these out, put them in a bowl and answer a few at dinner. There's no pressure to get through a certain amount, just a random question to spark conversation. There's something about making it a game of randomly drawing a question that makes everyone open up more than if I was just sitting there asking/drilling the questions.

After you get through these questions, have everyone make up 5 questions and put those in the bowl. I hope this sparks great conversation or even a new family tradition!
