New Year's Eve Painting for Kids

The Activity Mom

From my experience, on special days it is hard for kids to wait for the main event. I usually try to have activities prepared and ready during these time as a sanity saver for them and for us.

One of the many activities I have ready for New Year's Eve is fireworks painting. Whether the kids are staying up until midnight or until it is dark enough to see fireworks, you should give this painting experience a try.

Gather 4 pipe cleaners into a bundle. Fold them in half.

Twist the folded section of the pipe cleaners so they will stay together. This will give your child an area to hold onto when painting.

Bend the bottom ends of the pipe cleaners outward and separate each one.

Put paint onto a plate. Dip the pipe cleaners into the paint and stamp onto the paper.

We used black paper to represent night time, but you can use any color paper that you have on hand.

Use different colors of paint.

Mix a little glitter into your paint for a special sparkle.

Try painting onto aluminum foil for a special effect.

Happy New Year!
