RAMSEY COUNTY, MN – Sexual assault is a public health issue that impacts everyone, whether directly or indirectly, and has long-term social and economic ramifications. Concerning this problem, Ramsey County has announced the SOS Sexual Violence program and services, which are available 24 hours a day.
SOS Sexual Violence is available 24 hours a day. It includes crisis intervention, referrals, support, and information when reporting an attack or seeking medical care, as well as medical advocacy during exams or receiving medical care.
Moreover, this program provides legal representation for issues such as filing a police report or addressing other legal obstacles, safety planning that includes shelter, open support group meetings, one-on-one short-term treatment, and aid with financial concerns.
Crisis counseling requires an appointment. Appointments are available on Monday until Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Also, you can call for an appointment at 651-266-1000.
Join the sexual violence support group. SOS support groups allow survivors to share their stories in a secure and confidential environment. Adults (18+) who have experienced rape, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, or other forms of sexual violence are welcome to attend. Participants may bring a friend or family member for moral support.
The committee of this program is committed to being a part of a solution to transform the culture and prevent the onset of sexual assault perpetration in the first place. Making the connection between all types of oppression (such as racism, sexism, homophobia, disability, adultism, and ageism, among others) and how these contribute to a culture in which inequity thrives and violence is seen as usual is critical to primary prevention.
