“We need a president who’s going to secure the border,” Texas Governor Greg Abbott said to the crowd before officially endorsing Donald J. Trump for president.

“You’ll go back to normal governing. You won’t have to worry about the border anymore,” the former president told the governor.

Mr. Trump joined Gov Abbott and helped serve a Thanksgiving meal to Operation Lone Star service members at a luncheon in Edinburg, Texas. They honored and served more than 240 law enforcement agents who work to secure the border, per an Office of the Texas Governor press release.

Attendees included Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers, Texas National Guard soldiers, and other border agents. Gov Abbott expressed his gratitude for their service and acknowledged the strain their jobs create for them and their families.

The service members can’t be home with their families for the holiday because they work everyday to secure our border, Gov Abbott told the guests. Further expressing his feelings about it, he said they shouldn’t have to be there. But they’ll working--since Biden refuses to do so.

Later, he wrote on X,

“These brave men and women are away from their families for the holiday, working around the clock at our border.”

Besides helping to serve attendees at the luncheon, the former president smiled for numerous selfies and signed autographs.

He also spoke briefly, saying,

“Three years ago, we had the strongest border in the history of our country. Now we have the weakest border, probably in history.”

The former president said residents in border towns told him they wanted to leave. They want to sell their homes. But they can’t because nobody wants to buy them.

“A president can secure the borders,” the governor stated.

He said our border would be secure if Biden enforced the laws on the books.

“If you’re tired of the open border policies, you need a new president,” Texas Gov Abbott advised.

Do you think the governor made the best decision for future border security?
