The Valles Caldera National Preserve is now open!

After a long closure due to the wildfire risk, the Valles Caldera National Preserve is now open! We visited the Valle Grande area and the historic cabin district when it first reopened in early June. The cabin district reflects the ownership and land use history of four principal landowning families from 1860-2000. To visit this area you need to obtain a permit from the visitor center. This is free of charge, but is limited to 12 vehicles at a time.
