The COVID-19 pandemic got us bound to our homes and even though we have more options than ever to entertain ourselves at home, it can get really boring watching TV all the time. Even before COVID, there were a lot of times at school or work where you are just trying to kill a couple of hours before you can wrap everything up and go home.

Of course, scrolling through your social media feed is a great way to go through the news and what is happening in your social circle, but sometimes you can get bored by the same social media feed as well. Here are a few websites that can help you kill time when you got no other options:

1) FMyLife

Launched in 2008, FMyLife is available in several languages. If you are having a bad day and wondering why everyone around you is an idiot, well you are not alone. FMyLife is a website that contains blogs and anecdotes that can happen to anyone in their day-to-day life. Most of the posts are very simple and short that you can sort through like your Twitter feed. For each post, you have an option to vote, “I agree, your life sucks”, or “You deserved it”. The Onion is hands down the funniest online news publication. This publication started in 1988 and has been successful in maintaining its satirical and humorous writing for several decades now. If you have seen the popular TV series F.R.I.E.N.D.S, you may wonder if this publication is being run by Chandler Bing. So, next time you are bored and don’t mind reading a bit, visit the Onion for some laughs. The only disclaimer is that some people may find the satirical take on everyday tragical news offensive.

Remember Yahoo chat rooms that were very popular in the internet café days and where people would chat online with strangers around the world. Well, Omegle is very similar to that and allows you to interact over video or online chat with strangers that want to talk about similar topics as you. No personal details are needed to start on Omegle and as long as you don’t personally identify yourself to the other person, the chat is anonymous. Sometimes the conversations can lead to friendships across the seas. The website mentions that predators have been known to use Omegle, so please be careful. While the site is mostly used by college students, but people of all ages use it. So, next time you are bored, try Omegle and chat with some strangers across the world with similar interests.
