It's no secret that the Poconos hasn't been represented very well in the comedy scene since the Poconuts monthly show ended all those years ago. And many of us are tired of driving 45 minutes to Scranton, Bethlehem, Allentown, or entirely different states to find some good laughs. Fortunately for us, a rescue plan has been submitted!

Recognizing that the Poconos was a little short on humor, stand-up comedian and area resident John Grier decided to lure some of the funniest people he knows into trying to cure our depression. A herd, or pack, or whatever you call a flock of comedians these days, will deliver a whole lot of laughs to Poconos with a series of comedy shows over the next few months. The five stand-up comics are known all around New Jersey and the surrounding areas. Each will be presenting a hilarious 15-to 20-minute set.

After an incredible start to his stand-up career and a whole lot of pressure from his friends and family, Grier felt obligated to bring some laughter back home to everyone he loves so incredibly much. With huge success and several upcoming shows in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ohio next month, it's nice to know he still remembers his humble beginnings. Grier has recently performed alongside Sharon Simon and will be competing for a residency at New York City's famous Broadway Comedy Club later this month. A student of the legendary Chip Ambrogio (writer for The Friars Club Roasts), Grier attributes many of his comedic achievements to his mentor. "If you heard my jokes before Chip, I would not book a single show," he admits, "It's night and day!" And, we're glad it is because those who know him say he wasn't very amusing before meeting Chip—just kidding!

Headlining the show is Anthony Crescenzo, who you probably recognize from the Wendy Williams Show or Married At First Sight. Crescenzo has also starred in hit films A Hundred Indecisions and A Thanksgiving Proposal. And, has an upcoming Pay-Per-View Special set to air in the spring. The pair quickly became friends while Grier performed at the Devil's Den Comedy Club in Newark, which Crescenzo runs. Telling him of our area's woes and his proposed solution, Crescenzo immediately came to Grier's aid when he came looking for some big guns. The New Jersey comedian always has a great time visiting the Poconos and is excited to show us what he's got.

The first show will be at 8 PM on Feb. 12th at the Clarion Hotel in Delaware Water Gap, PA. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. You have to be 18 years or older to enter and 21 to drink. Discounts on rooms are available for anyone who plans to get wasted at the show or get frisky afterward. You'll find complete information on the Grierfest Comedy events page on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/grierfest
