After missing for quite some time, the body of a teenager has been found in a Kansas City pond. Jayden Robker went missing on February 2, 2023. He was then confirmed to have been the body found in the pond on Sunday, March 12, 2023.
“I’m heartbroken,” his mother, Heather Robker, said in response to the news. “It’s very hard to take in this information. I’m still in shock and I’ve cried all day. It’s a lot to take in at one time.”
On the day that he went missing (February 2), Jayden was seen riding his skateboard. He had left his Lakeview Terrace Mobile Home in order to trade Pokemon cards with some friends. Sadly, he never made it back home. Earlier that day, Jayden was seen getting off his school bus at 2:30 pm. Then, surveillance footage showed him in the area of a convenience store that was close to the pond where he was found. His mother woke up for her night shift shortly after 10:30 pm that night. When she found no signs of Jayden at home, she called the police.
With the discovery of Jayden’s body, the police had come under fire for their delayed response when he had initially been reported missing. It took four days for the Kansas City Police Department to make it publicly known that Jayden Robker was missing. According to them, they took that long because they could not find a recent photo of the teen.
“There’s no such thing as small information,” Derrica Wilson, a co-founder of the Black & Missing Foundation said regarding the story. Wilson felt that — even without a recent picture — there were still other ways that the police could have alerted the public that Jayden was missing. “Everything is critical … I think it could’ve made a huge difference, because someone may have seen this young man.”
A preliminary autopsy was done on the body. The report states that no obvious signs of foul play were found, according to the police.
