BATON ROUGE — Just 2 weeks ago, a father was spending time with his daughter before her world would turn upside. Nathan Millard was at a traditional daddy-daughter dance with his 7-year-old little girl. Now, he is considered missing a person. At some point after the dance, Millard wound up at Happy’s Irish Pub on Wednesday, February 22, 2022. He was seen leaving the bar at 11:30 pm. That night, however, he never made it back to his hotel room.
“It’s just shocking to me with the details. When you look at where his phone was found, when you look at where his ATM card was attempted to use and just how it’s completely off the path of where he would have gone from the bar to the hotel,” said Matt Still, a close friend of Nathan Millard.
To illuminate what he was referencing, Nathan’s phone was found at the intersection of Convention and North 7th Streets. At a later date, the police say that Nathan’s ATM card was used at the Greyhound Bus Station on Florida Boulevard.
The Baton Rouge Police Department says that they are using that information to determine what may have happened to Nathan. They are also relying on video surveillance to piece together timelines. They are using what is referred to as a “grid search”.
“You look at a particular area, and you look for patterns of where that person could have gone,” said L’Jean McKneely, a spokesman for the Baton Rouge Police Department.
The police did track down a homeless man who they believed to have been involved in the disappearance of Nathan Millard. However, he was released after being questioned. When asked why they released the homeless man — especially when they later admitted that they believed foul play took place — Mckneely was tight-lipped.
“I can’t disclose this information at this time,” McKneely said.
