Barbecue has to be one of the most satisfying meals a Texan could ever wish to enjoy. And nothing says barbecue like the big beef rib at Lockhart Smokehouse located in Oak Cliff (Bishop Arts) and downtown Plano. As the name would imply, it is big, it is bountiful and it is meaty.

Of course, your table needs to be adorned with beefy ribs, brisket and whole smoked chickens (the latter at a bargain rate of a mere twelve bucks for an entire yard bird). Add an armload of meat-filled deviled eggs, smoked baked beans and some crunchy blue cheese slaw and you have a feast for the masses.

Meat for the masses.

Born from the loins of the famous Kreuz Market in Lockhart, Texas, this legendary hot spot will supply you with sultry slices of meat just for the asking. Look for is doing whole briskets, hams and prime rib to take home. You may also choose to have a larger event catered.

Not always on the menu, but certainly a delicious side item at Lockhart, the brisket infused hominy is creamy and wacky good. The strong corn flavor compliments the smokiness, begging for yet another bite.

The Oak Cliff hot spot features a full bar with all the local and national beers, and of course, cocktails to your hearts (and liver) content.

If a wide variety of meat is what you crave, this is your Mecca. Brisket, shoulder clod, dry-rubbed and slightly sweet spare ribs, and Kreuz Original sausage (jalapeno!) are always available. Pay attention to daily specials that include smoked fish, prime rib, sausage, and hearty beef ribs—all with plenty of napkins for your greasy fingers. And desserts!
