(DENVER, Colo.) Hump day's weather forecast predicts snow showers and frigid temperatures in the Mile High City.
The National Weather Service in Boulder reported at 6:53 a.m. Wednesday that the low temperature was -7, marking the coldest low temperature recorded on Feb. 23 since 1899 which was -4. Similarly, Tuesday set a new record low for the high temperature at 8, breaking the previous record of 13 in 1913.
The weather service predicts Wednesday will be very similar to Tuesday, with sporadic light snow & cold temperatures. Snow showers are expected mainly after 3 p.m.
Cloudy conditions will cover the skies over Denver, with the high temperature reaching near 13. Wind chill values will dip as low as -15. Expect north to northeast winds at 5 to 8 mph to become north to northwest Wednesday morning.
There is a 70 percent chance of precipitation, with a total daytime snow accumulation of less than half an inch possible.
The weather service predicts snow in Denver Wednesday evening, mostly before 3 a.m. The skies in Denver will be cloudy during the night, with the low temperature poised to drop to around 4. Wind chill values will reach as low as -4.
Expect north to northwest winds at 5 to 7 mph. Similar to the day, there is a 70% chance of precipitation Wednesday evening, with a new snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches expected.
Looking Ahead: Snow and bitter cold continues
Thursday in Denver will be snowy and very cold again, with the high temperature anticipated to reach near 22.
There is a 50 percent chance of snow Thursday, mostly before 9 a.m. Cloudy conditions will cover the skies in the morning and then will gradually become sunny for the most part.
Wind chill values will drop as low as -9. Expect north to northwest winds at 5 to 8 mph to become east to northeast Thursday afternoon. New snow accumulation of less than a half-inch is expected.
The weather service predicts partly cloudy conditions in Denver Thursday evening, with the low temperature poised to drop to around 7. Wind chill values will reach as low as -1.
Expect north to northeast winds at 5 mph to become light and viable in the evening.
