Denver Weather: Cold temperatures and snow showers Friday, sunny and clear weekend

(DENVER, Colo.) Friday's weather forecast predicts snow showers mostly after 11 a.m. in the Mile High City.

The National Weather Service in Boulder predicts the snowfall may be heavy at times, particularly in the rush hour and evening commute, causing roads to be slick and hazardous. The high temperature in Denver Friday will reach near 37. 

There is an 80% chance of precipitation Friday. The expected total daytime snow accumulation is 1 to 2 inches.

Expect northern winds at 10 to 14 mph Friday, with gusts reaching as high as 22 mph.

The weather service predicts snow in Denver Friday evening, mostly before 9 p.m. The low temperature will drop to around 15. Expect northern winds at 6 to 8 mph to become southern after midnight.

There is an 80% chance of precipitation Friday evening, with a new snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches.

Looking ahead: Sunny and clear, temperatures warm up

Saturday in Denver will be sunny for the most part, with the high temperature reaching around 46. Expect southern winds at 6 to 8 mph to become western Saturday afternoon. Wind gusts could reach as high as 15 mph.

The weather service predicts mostly clear skies in Denver Saturday evening, with the low-temperature dipping to around 23. Southern winds will blow at around 8 mph.

Sunday will also be sunny in Denver, with the high temperature reaching near 55. Southern winds will blow at speeds of 7 to 9 mph.

The weather service anticipates Sunday evening to be clear mostly, with a low temperature around 27.
