(LOVELAND, Colo.) Government agency Colorado Parks and Wildlife will host a warm water fishing clinic free of charge on Saturday at Buckingham Lake in Loveland to teach families the basics of fishing for warm water species.

Groups of families who attend the free fishing clinic will learn about the fundamentals of warm water species in regards to fishing, including handling, equipment, locations to fish, casting with a slip bobber, cooking and even cleaning. The clinic will feature an educational session by staff from Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) spanning roughly 30 minutes followed by fishing at the lake until noon.

"The main goal of our fishing clinics that are held throughout the whole year is really just to give people an opportunity to get involved, get started and learn something new," said Jason Clay, northeast region public information officer for CPW. "Sometimes it can be intimidating to get out there, buy all the gear, do the research and this helps people, families and individuals to have an opportunity to get out there and learn something new."

CPW will provide those in attendance with all fishing-related gear required, however, participants will be required to bring personal gear such as refreshments, snacks, sunscreen and more. CPW is additionally asking those who attend the clinic to meet on Scenic Drive located on the southeast corner of Buckingham Lake.

The most recent spring fishing clinic took place on May 8 at Barr Lake State Park in Brighton, with many families and children showing out to catch some fish. Those participating in the clinic that are ages 16 or older must have a valid Colorado fishing license.

There are a total of three separate educational sessions being held at the clinic, starting and running from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Unfortunately, the 8 a.m. session has already been filled.
