Old Los Angeles Zoo: Is Griffith Park's Abandoned Zoo Haunted? | Los Angeles, CA

L.A.'s Old Zoo – or Abandoned Zoo, as it's often referred to – might be haunted by the ghosts of its former residents, but that doesn't keep us away! Join us as we explore the animal enclosures in Griffith Park, now covered in art and graffiti. Thank goodness animals aren't kept in such small, inhospitable conditions here anymore. Between the "housing" and how much less was known about the care of wild animals back in the day, it's no wonder the zoo lost so many creatures. Such a sad lesson. And isn't it strange how some of the darkest, saddest places on this Earth also tend to be some of the most beautiful decades after the fact? Life and beauty persist. We didn't encounter any ghosts on this visit, but Andie did see a huge hawk, coming straight at her as she walked up a trail.
