Stockbridge, GA October 31, 2022- Southern Crescent Women in Business Inc hosted their Annual Funding Pitch on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the City of Stockbridge’s Merle Manders Conference Center. This is their third time hosting this event that helps fund women-owned businesses in the Southern Crescent. According to Founder Ariel Shaw, the Southern Crescent encompasses Henry County, Clayton County, Fayette County, and portions of Dekalb County. Shaw states, “Southern Crescent Women in Business has maintained dedicated to assisting women-owned businesses in the region through education, support, advocacy, empowerment, and non-traditional forms of funding- because we simply want to help another woman owned business be successful.”
Southern Crescent Women In Business, Inc. is an approved 501(c)(3) dedicated to providing foundational support for women-owned businesses and women in business. The mission for Southern Crescent Women in Business is simple, we must unequivocally foster business relationships to help sustain and grow our business and local economy. This year, Shaw partnered with Media Maven and V103 Maria Boynton, News Brand Manager & Public Affairs Director for Audacy Atlanta,to host this much anticipated event. Shaw states, “We had to turn away some contestants who were trying to sign up the same day to just be in the number to pitch.” The panel of Pitch Judges included City of Stockbridge Mayor Anthony Ford, Councilman Elton Alexander, Chief Judge Andrea Boyd, Attorney Janice Alfred, Sherry DeVouse-Dennard of State Farm Insurance and Heather Maxfield of Technology Association of Georgia. Red Carpet host is business owner Tyronica Carter. The show included a Fashion Show during Intermission while judges deliberated with local stores Labeled Blu Collection and Jide Gear.
The pitch winners are two sisters who business is out of Henry County, Ericka Jennings and Samantha Golden of Golden Essence Co. Golden Essence's winnings include a cash prize from Southern Crescent Women in Business, a package to key meetings from Technology Association of Georgia, 4 business coaching sessions through Southern Crescent Women in Business, as well as full page spread in The Southern Crescent Women In Business Magazine which is available in Barnes and Nobles.
