Not Safe, avoid this place.

Before Covid, my all-time favorite street mall was 16th Street Mall. Last weekend I went there after so long with my family and it made me sad to look what it turned out. Not a nice place to walk anymore. Very iffy characters and panhandlers were all around. The streets were dirty and homeless vagrants were milling about every corner and loitering near some business entrances. Stay off the free mall ride. It's full of homeless people that ride it all day to stay warm or cool. Even if you walk, you're still going to run into homeless people. The city needs to step up their homeless outreach, their harm reduction outreach, and housing initiatives. I won't go there or recommend anyone to visit this place until it's all clean and back to decent shopping or entertaining mall. We hardly stayed there for 10 minutes, rushed back to our car, and came home.
