ATLANTA, GA — In partnership with American Red Cross, Clayton County Police Department is hosting a blood drive event on Friday, July 30. The event will start at 10 a.m until 3 p.m.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Red Cross is in critical need of help to supply the demand of blood and platelet donors for the patient of care.
Clayton County comes forward to host the blood drive event at Police Headquarters, Community Room, 7911 N. McDonough Street Jonesboro, GA 30236.
In these blood drive events, The Red Cross ensures the safety and health of others by using the highest standards of safety and infection control, and guarantee that the volunteer donors are the only source of blood for the patients.
To avoid the once postponed surgical procedures and treatments for patients, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, donors are encouraged to give as soon as possible to make sure the blood products are always available for people in need.
If the volunteers already received a COVID-19 vaccine, they need to provide the manufacturer's name when they come to donate. Because the deferral times may be different for each individual depending on the type of vaccine. Although, in most cases, there is no deferral time, as long as they're feeling well and symptoms free at the time of donations.
To sign up for the donation, you can log on to www.redcrossblood.org/rapidpass. You have to complete an online form of your health history before your arrival.
For everyone's safety, there are no walk-ins. People can only come if they already registered as the donor.
