ATLANTA, GA — The executive vice president for Research, Chaouki T. Abdullah has assembled a search committee to select the new vice president for Commercialization and Chief Commercialization Officer at Georgia Tech faculty. The search is open to current tenured faculty members.
Raheem Beyah, the dean and Southern Company Chair in the College of Engineering will be the head of the search, with the new vice president anticipated to start in the early fall semester. The future vice president will lead Georgia Tech’s newly established Office of Commercialization, which includes Technology Licensing as well as VentureLab.
The vice president will also develop and implement the strategic direction for the office to serve as the engine for a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem on campus and to include licensing and commercialization strategies.
The Wayne J. Holman Chair Professor of School of Electrical and Computer Engineering Raghupathy Sivakumar has served in the role in a temporary capacity since November.
Abdullah is certain that under the leadership of the new vice president, the Office of Commercialization will bring together commercialization and technology transfer activities from across the Institute and facilitate critical connections between Tech and the organizations. He is excited about the innovations being created by the faculty, staff and students. He also expressed his gratitude to Siva for his leadership and his service as the interim over these several months; to the search chair, Dean Beyah; and also to the search committee for their dedication to the process.
