Man Drives Off Collapsed Bridge in NC While Following Google Maps Directions
A North Carolina man died on September 30, 2022, after driving his Jeep Gladiator off a collapsed bridge while following Google Maps directions. Philip Paxson, a medical device salesman and father of two, was driving home from his daughter's ninth birthday party through an unfamiliar neighborhood when he was directed by Google Maps to cross the bridge, which had collapsed nine years prior and was never repaired.
