Lots of fun and history when visiting Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park!
Up in the Gold Country, in Coloma, California, lies some fascinating history! For those who live in Northern California, it is a good chance you have visited the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park, or at the very least, your children has had a school field trip there. Located on Highway 49 in El Dorado county, the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic park provides a ton of history of how gold was first, well, maybe not first, discovered by James Marshall. The park with all its exhibits explain how this little secret between Marshall and his cohort, John Sutter, did not last for long, and settlers traveled from all over the world to also be a part of this finding of gold! Daily tours are available for free and escorted by the volunteers who dress up from this time period, and it's free. Be sure to bring a picnic as there are a number of picnic tables around! Fun for the whole family! A full length video can be seen on our YouTube channel, "SippyCupAdventures"
Hello, my name is Darin Wissner, and my wife Patti and I travel almost exclusively in our home of Northern California! There is a lot to see in beautiful Northern California. We don't hike, and we don't camp. We prefer more "luxurious" stays, whether it's hotels, Vacation rentals, or glamping. SippyCupAdventures entails: 1) being at a waterway or beach 2) Having cocktails 3) Listening to our favorite music We try and steer clear of: Barking dogs Screaming kids and humans Not that we have anything against dogs, kids, and humans! We just try to be more secluded. Now that we have this opportunity to share with YOU, we will expand our travels to include more details on hotels, beaches, and restaurants in Northern California. We thank you.
