I have read many of Sylvia Plath's poems. The story of this book hooked me as much as her poems do. I have never read such an extravagantly interesting book before.
The story in the book is more like an autobiography where Sylvia is describing her real-life struggle with depression and anxiety. I'm lucky to have a life way better than the one described here, but I'm pretty sure that there are many in the same situation.
It is absolutely a perfect medley of emotions, fiction, womanhood, and all that it needs to hook the reader especially, a woman. I have a feeling that this book helped women realize that they're not alone and brought things to light that most people have commonly shoved aside.
If you feel you're suffering from distress, aberration, stir about topics concerning society, or just looking for a good read, The Bell Jar is unquestionably the book for you.
