A former Community Unit School District 300 employee accused of soliciting child pornography, electronic harassment, and cyberstalking has now incurred additional charges.
According to Patch.Com, Donald J. Peters, 34, of Cary, was arrested last month after investigators with the Algonquin Police Department obtained a search warrant and searched his home. At that time, he was charged with nine felony counts, and three misdemeanor counts of child pornography, intimidation, and electronic harassment.
Along with his other charges, Peters now also faces felony charges of child pornography/soliciting a child under 13 years old, grooming, and child luring, according to online court records.
Peters worked as an attendance and truancy assistant at Westfield Community School for nearly five years. He is not currently listed as an employee and his LinkedIn account has been deleted..
It is speculated that Peters contacted students through their social media accounts.
On September 7, Peters entered not guilty pleas to ten of the twelve charges against him.
Shaw Local News Network reports that officials at Algonquin-based District 300 placed Peters, the attendance secretary at Algonquin’s Westfield Community School, on administrative leave after his July 17 arrest.
