A book review of Beautiful by Danielle Steel.
Veronique Vincent is on top of the world. Only twenty-two, she is a bonafide supermodel. Her face is on all the magazines, and of course, she must be in all the runway shows. However, the model lifestyle isn’t exactly her cup of tea. She prefers quiet nights in with her mother and boyfriend. She does attend all the right parties, but she is always ready to go back home.
Her mother and she decides to get away for a weekend, but instead of enjoying some time away together, their lives are changed forever when there is an explosion at the Zaventem Airport in Brussels.
Veronique wakes up months later, only to discover that her mother and boyfriend have been killed in the explosion. She also learns that the shrapnel she was hit by has changed her appearance forever. She will no longer be a beautiful model.
She spends her time at home alone, and struggles to really find herself in her new life. A letter changes her entire world, revealing a secret which changes everything.
Eventually, Veronique finds peace in her new life, keeping some old friends and finding new ones, and exploring a whole new world. She starts to find herself and find happiness in her new life.
I always enjoyed Danielle Steel books and this one is no different. It is one woman’s journey to find peace in a world that is completely different than expected. You will also enjoy this tale, about a beautiful woman who doesn’t feel the same way after an explosion changes her life.
