Banner Health Requires Vaccination of Employees

TUCSON, AZ - Banner Health is now mandating all workers to get the COVID-19 vaccination by November 1, 2021, as a way to safeguard patients, team members, and the community. The rule covers every staff member employed by Banner Health, including all academics and employees from the University of Arizona Health Sciences.

The Banner Health team is dedicated to the highest safety, quality, service, and innovation levels. Since the COVID-19 vaccination became available, the group has urged members to obtain it. Now that cases and variations are on the rise, they believe it is their responsibility to protect the community's most vulnerable members by taking every precaution necessary.

Many of the members have been vaccinated, but the percentage needs to be at 100 percent to help halt the spread of the virus and keep patients, visitors, and coworkers safe. 

Banner Health suggests members and the general public who haven't been vaccinated contact their local public health department for more information on where to get vaccines in the area. Texting ZIP code to 438829 or input it at vaccines.gov/search can also be used to obtain a quick list of local sites. The vaccine is free for Banner Health team members. Banner Health will invoice only the administrative charge to their insurance.

While the vaccine is another weapon for slowing the spread of the COVID-19 virus, its capability for long-term protection is still unknown. Therefore, everyone should stick to the current practices while out in public. Continue to wash your hands, wear masks, maintain a safe distance from others, vaccinate, quarantine when necessary, do contact tracing, restrict group meetings, and do everything else possible to help prevent the spread of the virus.
