Los Angeles County is one of the most expensive areas to be in the United States, and this includes not just pricey real estate but also many other daily living expenses. Fortunately, the culinary scene in Los Angeles County remains unaffected by rising prices, thanks to the county's diverse population and the plethora of dining options that they bring with them.
You don't have to go to costly restaurants to eat a lot of delicious cuisines, you can manage it with less expensive alternatives while staying within your budget and being kind to your wallet. Even a roadside stall can compete with, if not outperform, the quality of cuisine provided at the fancy restaurants here. This article will look at three of the L.A. County restaurants that may be affordable for those on a tight budget.
Los Dorados
Los Dorados can be found at 5922 N Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90042. They serve enormous corn tortillas wrapped with chorizo, chicken, potato, and our favorite, lamb barbacoa, all ordered two of each flavor to a pair and topped with a sprinkling of cotija.
It is a little truck that only serves taco dorados, but they are among the greatest to be ever had in Los Angeles County. Crispy, deep-fried folded tacos slathered with house-made salsa roja, guacamole, and cotija cheese, these flautas aren't subtle, and that's precisely why we love them.
Burritos La Palma
Burritos La Palma can be found at 2811 E Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90023, USA. The tightly wrapped burritos at Las Palmas in Boyle Heights, prepared with handmade Zacatecas-style flour tortillas, are little pockets constructed with delightfully chewy tortillas that carry nothing but delicious beef birria oozing in smoky consommé.
La Palma's buttery flour tortillas are ideal for consuming as much hot, succulent beef birria as you can in one sitting. Frijoles y Queso Burrito is a tasty bean and cheese burrito, but it's basically simply a soft flour tortilla with a mushy filling. This choice is hard to go wrong with, although it lacks the intriguing and smokey tastes of the birria burrito.
Evil Cooks
Evil Cooks can be found at 2461 N Eastern Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90032. Elvia Huerta, a former assistant cook at Rendezvous, co-runs Evil Cooks, a heavy-metal-themed taqueria providing cuisine inspired by childhood memories of the owners. Huerta and her business partner Alex Garcia travel across Los Angeles throughout the week, providing Mexican comfort cuisine with their own innovative twists on classic dishes.
Alex Garcia and Elvia Huerta arrive in their onyx-colored van on Friday and Saturday evenings in El Sereno, and on Sunday mornings at Smorgasburg at Row DTLA, and set up tents from which to offer their cuisine to the guests from their "Hell Menu".
