Los Angeles County is one of the most populated counties in the United States, with immigrants coming from all over the world. Despite the numerous criticisms, every city has its advantages, but with increased population density comes an array of challenges such as bugs, garbage, and pollution that can turn any metropolis from gleaming to filthy. According to a 2022 survey, the city of Los Angeles is the third dirtiest in the United States.
With these considerations in mind, Los Angeles County Supervisors Kathryn Barger and Sheila Kuehl, in collaboration with Republic Services Sunshine Canyon Landfill, have launched an event for residents of the unincorporated communities of Sunland, Kagel Canyon, Lopez Canyon, West Chatsworth, West Hills, Oat Mountain/Twin Lakes, and Lake Manor who can drop off up to one ton of trash such as furniture, appliances, and other bulky items for free at Sunshine Canyon Landfill.
