I wouldn't be able to count how many times I've walked up and down Main Street in Lititz, PA. Never have I noticed the little sign that points towards the building in the photo above. Inside what used to be the building of the old Lititz Record Express Newspaper building, you'll find Zum Anker Alley Shoppes.
This is a unique and quirky store offering a large variety of handmade items. Owners Bud and Alice Bracken bought the building in 2007 and restored it to the newspaper's old days of 1942. The owners have traveled the country selling Alice's unique silk floral arrangements at craft shows. At these shows, they often meet with other independent artists whose work they enjoy and now sell in the Lititz shop.
In here, you will find everything from whimsical garden art, realistic birds for the bird lover, creative bird feeders attracting any kind of bird that likes to cling to the feeder to eat, original both original works of art and collectibles and much more.
I mean, who wouldn't want Gerry the Goat on their wall?
On the second floor of the old Lititz Record Express Newspaper building, you'll find an art gallery. This gallery features the works of many of the creative local artists Lancaster County and Lititz, PA has to offer.
The store has already started decorating for the Christmas holiday, enough to get you in that warm and fuzzy holiday mood. Among what they have in stock for the holidays are Christmas figures from Estonia, a country in the Baltic region of Northern Europe bordered by Finland, the Baltic Sea, Latvia, and Russia. Each one is beautifully made by hand, and many of them are assembled by a disabled person.
Zum Anker Alley Shoppes also have a wide selection of decor reindeers, wreaths, sleds, and the beloved snow globes. Snow globes are a popular item in this shop, perhaps because they often take us back to fond memories or bring that childhood nostalgia.
Everything you'd need to decorate your home for Christmas you'd probably find here.
