Located on the beautiful Main Street in downtown Lititz, you'll find Legacy Collective. This is a unique independent shop, featuring several brands supporting women. You'll find t-shirts and clothing with inspirational logos, and minimalistic and elegant jewelry made by women coming out of poverty.

Human trafficking

Among the brands that caught my eye while shopping was Calyan Wax Co., a candle company taking a stand against human trafficking in America. Human trafficking is one of the fastest growing-crimes in the country, and while so many of us want to do something to help, it can be hard to know simply where to begin.

This candle company donates 5 percent of all revenue to trusted and vetted non-profits, such as Traffick911. Traffick911 helps survivors of human trafficking embrace healing and freedom by building trust-based relationships and providing ongoing field-based support. With every purchase of Calyan candles, customers are raising funds for trusted anti-trafficking non-profits.

According to their website, $150,318.33 has been donated to non-profits so far, all through candle sales. Calyan candles are made from soy, they're eco-friendly and handcrafted candles existing to bring some light to a dark world.

Ethical fashion

I found some stunning jewelry at Legacy Collective as well, by the brand ABLE. This is an ethical fashion brand that employs and empowers women as a solution to end poverty. They're all about quality, both in the products they create and the quality of life they aim to provide. ABLE invest in, train, and educate women so they can earn a living, break the cycle of poverty, and thrive.

What's special about this Texas-based brand is that they're also focusing on transparency by publishing their wages. They spent three years developing their own evaluation system, named accountable, which evaluates their manufacturing partners on safety, equality, and wages to get a better insight into the impact of their supply chain on the women creating the products.

Fashion is one of the largest industrial employers of women worldwide, yet only an estimated 2 percent of fashion workers are paid a livable wage. ABLE wants to help change that, and they publish their lowest wages in order to give consumers a clear choice to protect the people making their products.
