PHOENIX, AZ — The Phoenix College (PC) Food Pantry and Mobile Food Drive-Thru Distribution assist hundreds of students and the surrounding community, but it would not be possible without the help of PC faculty and staff volunteers such as Marisela Chavez, Miguel Enriquez and Ambar Guillen.

Due to COVID-19, the number of volunteers for the pantry and the mobile food drive-thru has been substantially reduced during the last year. When community participation and volunteers were unable to assist in serving, Phoenix College teachers and staff stepped in.

Chavez, Enriquez and Guillen “exemplified extraordinary service and dedication to serving students and the community through the pantry and the mobile drive-thru,” said Student Services Specialist, Sr., Dr. Vashi Worley-Moore. “Our efforts would not have been possible without volunteers like these.”

A ceremony was arranged to honor Chavez, Enriquez and Guillen for their contributions to Phoenix College. They were each given a medal for "Outstanding Community Service."

Non-perishable items like as peanut butter, canned meat, cereal and diapers are still being collected by the PC Pantry. Please contact 602-285-7231 to make a gift on Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
