FIFA reviews Lincoln Financial Field, considering Philadelphia for 2026 World Cup

  • FIFA and US Soccer officials took a tour of Lincoln Financial Field on Wednesday as part of their consideration of Philadelphia's proposal to host the 2026 World Cup. The group will also tour Center City. Seventeen US cities are in the running and after this delegation visits them all the group will be narrowed down to 10.

West Philadelphia charter school goes into lockdown after shooting threat

  • Hardy Williams Mastery Charter was placed under lockdown at 10 a.m. on Wednesday after 911 dispatchers received a call that somebody was planning to "shoot up" the school. Police identified the caller as a woman but no other information has been released.

SEPTA starts new initiative to improve Regional Rail

  • The SEPTA Forward initiative that was unveiled on Tuesday is seeking feedback from riders, operators and staff to improve the organizations' Regional Rail service. SEPTA proclaimed that nothing is off the table when it comes to revamping their Regional Rail lines. The end goal of the project is to determine a course of action to make Regional Rail more useful to its riders.

'Fraud Street Run' for charity taking place in November

  • The Fraud Street Run from Four Seasons Total Landscaping to the Four Seasons hotel is scheduled for Nov. 28 to raise money for Philabundance. The 11-mile run is a "fat-ass race," meaning that there are no rules, regulations or registration necessary to take part. The organizers only ask that participants pay $10 to Philabundance.
