The Coronavirus has certainly had an impact on the movie industry and early this year there were suggesting moviegoers were ready to head back to theaters to enjoy the cinematic experience. This list may not be the summer lineup you were used to pre-pandemic, however, there are plenty of great titles to look forward to.

Here is a monthly breakdown of the movies in theatre during the summer of 2022.


Friday, May 6th

Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness (PG13)

The Multiverse is unlocked and pushes its boundaries further in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness." Doctor Strange traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse with the help of mystical allies old and new to confront a mysterious new adversary.

Friday, May 13th

Firestarter (Rated R)

Andy and Vicky have been hiding from a shadowy federal agency in an attempt to hide their daughter Charlie who has a talent for creating fire into a weapon of mass destruction. The fire-starting escalates as Charlie gets older and her power becomes harder to control. After an incident reveals the location of the family, a mysterious operation is deployed to locate the family and seize Charlie.

Friday, May 20th

Downton Abbey: A New Era (PG)

Taking place in the South of France, the cast reunites for the much-anticipated film return of the worldwide sensation. They attempt to unravel the mystery of the Dowager Countess' newly inherited villa.

Men (Rated R)

Harper retreats to the picturesque English countryside in the aftermath of a personal tragedy, hoping to find some healing. There appears to be something or someone stalking her in the nearby woods. As her darkest memories and fears converge, simmering dread begins to form into an entire nightmare.

The Bob’s Burgers Movie (PG 13)

From the long-running Emmy®-winning series comes an animated, musical comedy-mystery-adventure. As the story opens, the Belchers' plans to have a successful summer are ruined by a ruptured water main that creates a sinkhole right outside of Bob's Burgers. As Bob and Linda attempt to maintain the restaurant, their children attempt to unravel a mystery that may save it. They fight for hope and to return to their place behind the counter as dangers mount.

Top Gun: Maverick (PG 13)

Pete "Maverick" Mitchell has been a top aviator for more than thirty years, pushing the limits of the aviation industry as a courageous test pilot, avoiding promotion that would ground him. Maverick meets the son of a former friend and Radar Intercept Officer, Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka "Goose", while training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission unheard of before. Maverick discovers he must face his own deepest fears as he faces an uncertain future and confronts the ghosts of his past, culminating in a mission that demands an ultimate sacrifice from those chosen to carry it out.

Jurassic World Dominion (PG13)

For the first time, two generations will converge at the end of the Jurassic era. There is nothing more exciting than an adventure that spans the globe like Jurassic World Dominion. Four years have passed since the destruction of Isla Nublar in Dominion. Throughout the world, dinosaurs live and hunt alongside humans. The fragility of the balance will determine whether humans can share the same planet as some of history's most unruly creatures.

Elvis (PG 13)

In it, Elvis Presley's life and music are explored in the context of his complicated relationship with Colonel Tom Parker, his manager. The story shows the complex dynamic between Presley and Parker spanning more than 20 years, from Presley's rise to fame to his death. Priscilla Presley, one of the most important and influential people in Elvis's life, is at the core of that journey.

Marcel the Shell with Shoes on (PG)

Despite being one inch tall, Marcel lives with his grandmother Connie and their pet lint, Alan, in a colorful existence. They are the only survivors of a mysterious tragedy after once being part of a sprawling community of shells. A documentary filmmaker discovers them in his Airbnb and posts a short film online causing the film to have millions of viewers, as well as unprecedented dangers and renewed hope of reuniting with his long-lost family.

The Black Phone (Rated R)

The story centers on Finney Shaw, a shy and clever 13-year-old boy, who is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement. Finney discovers the killer's previous victims can be heard in the disconnected phone on the wall. They are determined Finney will not suffer the same fate as them.

Minions: The Rise of Gru (PG)

Gru is growing up in the suburbs during the 1970s, amid a flurry of feathered hair and flared jeans. He hatches a plan to join a supervillain supergroup called the Vicious 6. Luckily, his loyal followers, the Minions, are there to help him cause mayhem. As soon as the Vicious 6 overthrow their leader, the legendary fighter Wild Knuckles, Gru interviews to become a member. Despite Gru's cleverness, the conflict doesn't go well and becomes even more problematic when he outwits them and suddenly becomes the apex of evil's mortal enemy. Wild Knuckles himself is an unlikely source of guidance for Gru, who discovers even bad guys need a helping hand occasionally.

Thor: Love and Thunder

The quest for inner peace leads Thor on a journey, unlike anything he has ever experienced. However, his retirement is cut short when the galactic killer Gorr the God Butcher seeks to annihilate all gods. When Thor discovers the threat, he calls upon the help of King Valkyrie, Korg, and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who, to his surprise, inexplicably wields Mjolnir as the Mighty Thor. As they journey together to unravel the mystery of the God Butcher's vengeance and stop him, they uncover a harrowing cosmic adventure.

Julie Rivers and her husband move into a new home after struggling to start a family. While on bed rest, she begins experiencing ghostly phenomena in the house.

Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank (PG)

The story of a hound who finds himself in a town full of cats who are in need of a hero to protect them from the evil plot of a wicked villain. The underdog and his felines must take on the role of fearsome samurai with the help of a reluctant trainer. Unfortunately, they all hate dogs.

Where the CrawDads Sing

The Crawdads Sing is based on the best-selling novel about Kya, a girl abandoned by her family in North Carolina's marshes and who raises herself to adulthood. A rumor about the "Marsh Girl" haunted Barkley Cove for years, causing Kya to be isolated from her community. She becomes fascinated by two young men from town, who open her to a new and startling world. When one of them is found murdered, however, she is accused of being the prime suspect. There is increasing uncertainty about what happened in the marsh, as the case unfolds, threatening to reveal the many secrets that lie within.
