National Voter Registration Day for 2023 was on Tuesday, September 19. It is observed on a Tuesday in September as a nonpartisan civic holiday to celebrate democracy and gain awareness of voter registration opportunities.

The date for National Voter Registration Day for next year will be Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

About 2,000 civic organizations in the United States helped launch the first National Voter Registration Day on September 25, 2012. Volunteers work each year on Voter Registration Day to encourage greater voter registrations among citizens of the United States.

National Voter Registration Day is endorsed by The National Association of Secretaries of State, The National Association of State Election Directors, The United States Election Assistance Commission, and The National Association of Election Officials.

Voting is a way to make your voice be heard. It helps the ordinary citizen have a say in how the government is run. It may seem that one vote does not count, but the votes are all counted and add up.

Volunteers work to get new citizens and those who may have just reached the age to vote to be sure that they are registered to vote.

Voters are encouraged to check their own voter registration and to help others to be sure they are registered to vote if they are eligible.

Voting is a way to celebrate democracy and freedom.
