G Yamazawa is an American writer, performer, and hip hop artist of Japanese heritage. He was born in Durham, North Carolina. His given name is George Yamazawa, and his stage name is G Yamazawa. He lives in Los Angeles, California.

G YAMAZAWA is a Japanese-American writer, performer, and hip hop artist born and raised in Durham, NC. With extensive touring experience in 48 states and 12 countries, G is widely regarded as one of the few spoken word artists to successfully transition into rap music. His 2022 release George reached #6 on the iTunes Top 100 Hip Hop Albums chart. [from his website]

The poetry which G writes often tells his own family story as well as some of the history of Japanese Americans. He uses his entertaining pieces to explain some of the experiences of Japanese Americans and immigrants in the United States.

Japanese Americans have often faced discrimination, prejudice, and racism over the years. One of the most egregious violations of the Constitution of the United States is the unjust incarceration in camps of Japanese Americans during World War II. G sometimes shares that part of American history in his work.

It is important that people know the history so that it is not repeated against any other citizens of the United States.

The Utah Nihon Matsuri is held each year to share the culture, heritage, and history of Japanese Americans with the greater population.
