UMFA is a wonderful place for families and individuals to visit. It is there for campus and community audiences to enjoy.
There will be a free event held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, called Third Saturday for Families: Poetic Art. Families with children as well as individuals are invited to participate.
Saturday, June 17, 2023 | 1-4 pm | FREE
We bet you’re a poet and you didn’t even know it. Have you seen the large chalkboard in the UMFA’s Modern and Contemporary gallery? Artist Willie Cole created a word poem called an acrostic for his mixed media art piece How Do You Spell America? # 8. We’ll get inspiration from his piece and create our own acrostic poetry art.
This event is generously sponsored by Zoos, Arts & Parks (ZAP) and the University of Utah [from the website]
The mission of UMFA is stated as: To inspire critical dialogue and illuminate the role of art in our lives.
UMFA acknowledges the land on which they stand as the traditional and ancestral homeland of the Ute Tribe as well as the Shoshone, Paiute, and Goshute Tribes. They respect the Native Nations and Urban Indian communities and are in partnership with them.
People of all ages are invited to visit UMFA and to learn more about art in our lives. This free event on Poetic Art promises to be educational and interesting/
