Joe's was sold to a privately held company, J.H. Whitney & Company in 2006, which operated as JCS Holdings, LLC. They changed their name in 2009 to Ignite Restaurant Group. They went public in 2012.
Ignite Restaurant Group filed for bankruptcy protection in 2017 and was acquired once again by Landry's, Inc. at a bankruptcy auction. The chain was operating 44 locations in 18 states in 2021.
