It was started by a Chinese man
Although Chinese restaurants are very popular and are found in nearly every town in the United States, it is not so common to see a bakery with Chinese owners. The original 85C Bakery Cafe was started by Mr. Cheng-Hsueh Wu. He was visiting a 5-star hotel in 2003 and went to the cafe where he enjoyed gourmet pastries and drinks. He thought the prices were too high for many people.
He decided to start a cafe that would provide premium coffee, breads, and cakes at affordable prices. He established the 85C Bakery Cafe. It now has over 1,000 locations worldwide.
The first store was opened in Irvine, California. It became an instant success. There were thousands of Yelp reviews and lines were out the door. They were featured on TIME, CNN, NPR, and the Travel Channel. The 85C Bakery Cafe was a new experience that customers enjoyed.
The location in Irvine is at 2700 Alton Parkway, Suite 123. It is still a popular place to go for delicious breads, pastries, and drinks. They have over 50 varieties of pastries which are baked fresh.
They have Box Sets, Sweet Danishes and Strudels, Cakes, all types of Breads and Rolls, and specialty items such as Pork Sung Bun, Spicy Sausage, Garlic Cheese, Hawaiian Chicken, Jalapeno Cream Cheese, Ham and Cheese, and dozens of other choices.
One of the Biggest Chinese-owned bakery chains in the states, this location in Irvine is the place to be if desserts are your weakness. Their pastry chefs are some of the most qualified professionals in the field and produce some truly exquisite masterpieces such as their signature Almond Half Moon, Deluxe Strawberry and the Dong-Po Pastry.
