A Utah restaurant serving charbroiled hamburgers
The locally owned charbroiled hamburger restaurant, Astro Burgers, was started by Greek immigrants, John and Soula Lyhnakis. They learned the business of running restaurants while living in Los Angeles, California. They moved to Utah in 1982 and opened the first Astro Burgers with John's cousin, Angelo Tsoutsounakis.
The couple opened their Astro Burgers restaurant on 6800 South State in 1986. Their three sons, Vasili, George, and Michael, grew up in the business. The family opened two more stores. One in South Jordan was opened in 2002, and another was opened in Draper in 2006.
Astro Burgers has been known to offer good quality and service for the past 35 years. This is a family operation, and it may be possible to see one or more of the family working there at any given time.
They pride themselves on using the highest quality ingredients which are delivered to their restaurants daily. They say they offer a healthier way to eat fast food. They charbroil the burgers, chicken, and steaks. They prepare each burger and menu item made to order as the customer desires. They are anxious to please.
Astro Burgers restaurants are open on Mondays through Thursdays from 11 am to 9 pm, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 am to 10:30 pm, and closed on Sundays.
Burgers, sides, shakes, and salads are highlights of their menu items. They also offer some Greek and Mexican specialties.
