The founder of Chick-fil-A was S. Truett Cathy who was born in 1921 and died in 2014. He was a devout Southern Baptist. He believed in observing the Sabbath Day, and the restaurants are closed for business on Sundays as well as on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The company's stated opposition to same-sex marriage has brought some controversy to the Chick-fil-A restaurants.
